While we will have access to the hives at Ecoversity for demonstrations and practice during class, participants are highly encouraged to set up at least one hive at home, in order to get the hands-on experience essential to really learning and integrating the information covered in class. Plans will be provided for those who wish to build their own hives, or we can provide basic top bar hives at a cost of $100 each. To ensure timely construction, please order hives by March 1st, 2012.

Bee Packages:
c. $135 ea.

EcoVersity will also place an order of quality bees, raised without chemical supplements and antibiotics, for students. In order to guarantee that the suppliers prepare the number of bees needed, please order bee packages (one for each hive they will establish this year) by February 15th. We will endeavor to have the bees arrive at Ecoversity in time for the second class session, when we will be demonstrating how to set up a new hive. NOTE: Due to CCD (Colony Collapse Disorder), bees are in limited supply and must be ordered as soon as possible.

Ecoversity will arrange for purchase of hives and bees for students and graduates of the beekeeping courses; if others want information about ordering bees, please contact Robert at bees@ecoversity.org

Our suppliers have not yet posted prices for 2012, so please e-mail Robert stating the number of packages you will want and he'll get back to you after 1/15/12, when prices will be set.

* Experienced beekeepers may be able to attend any single class session as a refresher.
Please contact Robert at bees@ecoversity.org, for more information.

* Cancellation Policy: The $175 deposit is non-refundable unless the class does not make quorum by March 1st, in which case your deposit will be returned in full.
