Kiss the Ground | A Look Into Regenerative Agriculture

Sep 24,  Written By Ecoversity

Some of you may be asking: What is climate change? Is climate change real? Is climate change a hoax? What is the definition of climate change? What is global warming? What is regenerative agriculture? Well, we have the documentary just for you!

Kiss the Ground is Netflix’s latest film targeting key environmental issues including the global soil degradation crisis and the effects of climate change. The documentary, featuring Woody Harrelson, goes deep into regenerative agriculture and provides an optimistic narrative on how regenerative farming techniques, with healthy soil microbes, can be used to reverse the effects of climate change. This process also provides stewardship to the earth by healing ecosystems, recreating our food supply chains, and nurturing the powerful effects of soil sequestration.

The film is centered around the solution of regenerative farming best defined as: farming and grazing practices that, among other benefits, reverse climate change by rebuilding soil organic matter and restoring degraded soil biodiversity – resulting in both carbon drawdown and improving the water cycle. Regenerative farming techniques include different methods such as: organic farming, hydroponics, aquaponics, regenerative medicine and regenerative grazing, Kiss the Ground’s ethos is directed at the agricultural industry and the global network of farmers, who seem to be uneducated about the unethical design of pesticides and soil erosion.

The film ignites with jarring statements that describe the mass amount of irreversible damage that have taken place to our health as a collective, along with the health of our ecological climate. These agricultural impacts date back to World World 2 and are true causes of global warming.

Kiss the Ground’s mission statement is simple: “Our vision comes from our heart. Earth is thriving because humanity is in balance with all living systems. Reverence and interconnection are the foundation of our relationship with nature. Our participation in ecosystem regeneration is restoring the health of soil, water, the atmosphere, and communities. Humans have embraced their role as caretakers of the planet and each other.”

The Ecoversity stands with the Kiss the Ground team on the focus statement: “Kiss the Ground: How the food you eat can preserve climate change, heal your body and ultimately save the world.” Ecoverity’s Co-Founder Stephen Brooks, recently caught up with the Co-Founder of Kiss the Ground, Ryland Engelhart, on Instagram and discussed how impactful it is that the regenerative agriculture movement is getting so widespread through film.
